滌綸纖維采用熔體仿絲，截面呈圓形表面平整，吸濕性能差，在標準條件下的回潮率為0.4%－0.5%，相對溫度100℃回潮率為0.1%－0.8%，因此纖維無論性能在干濕狀態下變化不大。
滌綸纖維強度高，彈性回復性能好，強度為3.52－5.28CN/dtex、斷裂伸長30%－40%，織物尺寸穩定、強度高、伸長小，因此滌綸織物耐磨性能好。
滌綸纖維的耐熱性較好，正常使用溫度在150℃左右，230℃－240℃開始軟化，熔點260
℃.在170℃下短時間加熱后引起的強度損失可以恢復，所以滌綸纖維在常溫下有很好的使用性能，在高溫下耐熱性和穩定性均好。水解，在高溫時尤甚。滌綸耐酸不溶于有機酸，在低溫下對低濃度的無機酸很穩定但能溶于潑
因滌綸大分子中含有酯鍵，故不耐強堿，容易硫酸和加熱的苯甲酸中，對一般的有機溶劑比較穩定。滌綸纖維不易導電，耐腐蟲蛀性能差。
